Duration: Half day
Frequency: Every day
We depart at 2 p.m. and return to the city center at 6.30 p.m. This tour is a great introduction to the Inca capital of Cusco.
We take in the Qoricancha, where you will begin to understand the clash between the Inca and Spanish powers. It includes the beautifully designed and cut Temple of the Sun, and the Convent of Santo Domingo.
We head out of Cusco to visit the cluster of important sites that sit on the ridge above the city: Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Puca Pucara, and Tambomachay. Sacsayhuaman is a citadel that overlooks Cusco. Building was begun by an earlier culture, but it was the Incas who made it into the magnificent fortress it remains today. Qenqo is an Inca holy place about 6 km from Cusco. Tambomachay, with its series of aqueducts and canals, displays Inca knowledge about transporting water. Puca Pucara, the red fortress, helped the Incas defend Cusco. It is across the modern Cusco–Pisac road from Tambomachay. You can visit all these sites on a single partial boleto turistico.
