AREQUIPA COUNTRYSIDE TOUR
Duration: 3 hours
Frequency: 9 a.m – 12 p.m. Daily 2 p.m – 5 p.m. Daily
Our tour introduces you to the city and colonial beauty of Arequipa and the diversity of its surroundings. We tour the plaza, and visit the church, as well as Yanahuara, a district known for its buildings of sillar, a white volcanic rock. We also visit the Puente de Fierro, which was designed by Gustave Eiffel. From here you can get some good views of the volcanoes around Arequipa.
Outside the city, we visit Mirador (Lookout) de Chilina, for views of the lovely surrounding countryside. We will wander around the Sabandia mill, the first stone mill in the region. While we are in the area, we also visit the pre-Inca agricultural terraces of Paucarpata. From here it’s a short ride to the restful Founder’s Mansion, the home of the founder of Arequipa, Garcí Manuel de Carbaj. We visit the old resort area of Tingo, and drive up to Sachaca Lookout, from where you can take in the city spread below you and dwarfed by its imposing volcanoes.
